Our roots
Kaltern is one of the largest and best-known wine areas in South Tyrol. Growing, making and enjoying wine are embedded in our culture and way of life.
Our vineyard
The people of Kaltern are proud to cultivate the vineyards of their fathers and grandfathers. Our family too has been growing grapes for generations. In this, we can count on the support of the Kellerei Kaltern winery, where our grapes are processed and whose wines we offer our guests.
There are about 750 hectares of cultivated vineyards in the Kaltern area. The main variety, Vernatsch, is used for the wine named after our local lake: Kalterer See. It is the best-known red among South Tyrolean wines, and it makes a great accompaniment to any food.
